All ready for my spa session.
Detour at a jewelry shop en route to our as-yet-to-be-determined spa.
We walked into Jayakarta on recommendation from a waitress in Bamboo Corner. Said the spa there is quite famous. Plus the fact that Jayakarta and our hotel is only about 5 mins walk makes it a candidate. But upon finding the spa, we found out that the rates are sky high. Maybe about the same here in Malaysia, though the session might be longer here. We decided that we should just walk around the area of Legian and would eventually find a nice spa, with a condusive environment and cheap, too.
So Bina and I walked. And walked. And turned corners. And found ourselves somewhere between an alley, and this alley is still dotted with shops. I mean, they're everywhere la. In the nooks and crannies of Legian, they could just fill this place up with shops offering different kinds of stuffs. We surveyed 4 spas I think. One is located inside a small hotel (room too small, rates quite standard, environment tak best), another one is along a street we couldn't remember or identify (not opened yet, and we don't like their rates too), the third is a spa cum hairdresser (room looks seedy, girl didn't know much about the treatment that we wanted, rate normal).
The fourth and last spa we went to is called Putri Bali. The moment we walked in we were greeted by lush tress surrounding the area, ensconsced within brick walls that resemble a temple, an a nice lady who gave us very tempting rates. Most of the rooms here are fairly comfortable, each with 2 massage beds and an outdoor bath, environment here is ace!
Blissful!
We had the Balinese massage (Rp 50,000) + Lulur + Yoghurt (Rp 100,000) plus a hot drink. The whole session took about 2 and a half hour. We left the place feeling fresh, silky smooth, stress-free and all the possible good feelings people feel when leaving a spa. Another highly recommended place for a spa session.
I ride him (pun intended).
The guys rented a bike each while we were gone for the spa. It was dirt cheap la. For rental of motorbikes for 24 hours is Rp 12,500 which is around RM5! We buzzed around Kuta in these and it was so liberating. No more walking miles on end, and we get to reach more places we couldn't have reached had we just stick to walking. The boys found a few factory outlets and we scoured them all. We went to have another nasi padang place (not so sedap though), we shopped around the area of Kuta, and then we finally went to Kuta Beach.
Ehhhh not so fab lah.
I personally don't like Kuta. There are more streetvendors here than anywhere else in Bali. The beach is so-so and, the sands are rough, the water's not inviting enough to go for a dip. Blah.
Random chicks.
Rustam told us that Legian beach is far better and happening than Kuta. We decided to go there tomorrow and retired back to the hotel room.
While the boys disappeared with their whizzy bikes, Bina and I was left alone. We finally had a go at the swimming pool, where time went by slowly (especially with a bottle of Bintang) and we swam in the pool, making as little noise as possible (cannot, I laughed too loudly) and just lepak in the pool until our fingers turned into prunes and headed down to Poco Loco which is about 4mins walk from our hotel.
Damn full of tourists, and we're the only 2 persons of color there. So you can get how it was. I cannot wait to leave this restaurant, mainly for safety reasons though. But actually when we finally left the place, we saw that there was a bodyguard at the main entrance. So phew.
My dinner. Delicious, but damn period makes me feel bloated and as a result I didn't finish it.
The boys came back and we brought them to Un's Cafe, this surfer restaurant cum surfer hangout (apparently). Portion's huge, dinner was fabulous and the caipirinha + 3 sticks = mellow baybeee. It was damn wicked. Oh yeah.
